Unnamed folder. How to create a folder without a name and without an icon. Making a folder invisible

There are many reasons why we may need to hide this or that folder on our computer from prying eyes.

One of them is whether family members or co-workers have access to our PC if the computer is working.

Also, information in hidden folders may be confidential or personal. Or these are adult files that are undesirable for children who occupy your computer from time to time to watch.

Making a folder invisible

So, we follow the step-by-step instructions:

Stage I. Create a new folder on the desktop

Right-click on an empty field of the desktop and select “Create” in the menu that opens, then “Folder”.

In order to create a new folder, right-click and select the desired function

Stage II. Assign an invisible icon to the folder

In order to continue the process of hiding a folder, you need to change its icon. To do this we do the following:

We move the cursor over the newly created folder;

Right-click and select the “Properties” option in the menu that opens (at the very bottom);

Right-click on the new folder and select the "Properties" option

A dialog box appears in front of us in which we select the “Settings” function;

At the bottom we see the “Change icon” button, which we activate;

A window appears in front of us with a large number of proposed icons, among which we select a transparent icon - approximately in the middle of the menu, it is invisible to the eye, so to activate it we move the cursor over a free field, as shown in the photo;

A folder with an invisible shortcut and visible name appears on the desktop

Stage III. Hiding the folder name

So, on our desktop there is an invisible folder with a readable name. To hide it also do the following:

press the “ALT” key and, holding it, enter the next combination of numbers “0160”, then “Enter”.

We see our folder completely disappear from view.

Note: For everything to work out, it is important to dial the numbers “0160” exclusively from the computer’s numeric keypad (located on the right), and not from the numbers that are located at the top of the keyboard.

But, if after performing all the manipulations, the folder name could not be hidden, try experimenting with the set of entered numbers and held keys, as follows:

after hovering the cursor over the name of the folder and selecting the “Rename” function, press simultaneously the two keys “Alt” and “Fn”, and then, while holding them down, type the numbers “0160”, after which “Enter”, and our folder has completely become invisible .

You can also try the numbers “255” instead of dialing “0160”.

Alternative way to hide folders

There is another way to make a folder or file invisible to the eye. It is based on the use of built-in functions of the Windows 7, 8 and 10 operating systems.

So, let's proceed point by point:

Right-click on the desired folder (file) and place the cursor on the “Properties” function.

A functional menu opens in front of us and on the first tab “General”, at the very bottom we see “Attributes” - put a check mark on “Hidden”.

In the attributes, select the "Hidden" option

In "Search" we find "Folder Options" and select the "View" tab

In the “View” section, select the “Do not show hidden files, folders and drives” option, then “Apply” and “Ok”. After which we see how our folder has completely disappeared from the desktop, that is, it has become invisible.

Select the option "Do not show hidden files, folders and drives"

It should be noted that using the above methods, by analogy, you can hide folders, files, pictures, music not only on the computer, but also on the disk and flash card.

Opening hidden folders and files

After we have looked at all the ways to make folders and files invisible in the Windows operating system, the question may arise - how to open them, view them, find them, and so on.

This is not difficult to do, if only because you can follow the steps of hiding a folder that we studied above, but now in reverse order.

For example, to find our hidden files and folders, go to the “View” section again and change our checkbox to the “Show hidden files, folders and drives” function, then “Apply” and “Ok”.

In order to open our hidden folders and files, select the option "Show hidden files, folders and drives"

Then, by pressing and holding the left mouse button, select part of the desktop field, as shown in the photo.

We will immediately see our hidden folders.

How to create a folder without a name?

Is it possible to create an unnamed folder in your Windows operating system using normal means?

Let me show you a little trick or trick on how to create a folder without a name, and how most of these tricks it absolutely works in each of the latest versions of operating systems from Microsoft Corporation.
Like most tricks like this, the trick will not bring practical benefit to anyone, but an unnamed folder on your Desktop or in another folder is easily distinguished from others. Yes, and, of course, you should definitely show off your art to your friends.

By default, Windows cannot create an unnamed folder. The system simply does not allow this. You can try - in the most usual way, through Create a new folder, delete the name... and, believe me, nothing will work. But, following further advice, you can easily create a folder without a name in any Windows operating system. So, let's go...

  • Let's create our brand new folder anywhere we want. For general convenience and clarity, I chose, as always, the Desktop. We create a folder in the usual way by right-clicking on the space free from shortcuts.
  • We delete the logical default name New Folder. Use the rename key F2 and click on the DELETE button. The name field below the folder should remain blank with a blinking space.
  • Now, by pressing the Alt keyboard button, without releasing this very button, we dial the number combination 255. You must use the right numeric part of the keyboard.
  • Let's release Alt. Press the Enter key to confirm that your input is correct.

Today you will see how to make a folder untitled in Windows 7, 8. Basically the trick is used to create an invisible folder on the desktop. Thus, the directory and its contents are hidden from prying eyes, but the level of security remains at the lowest level. To eliminate the threat, it is recommended to put a password on the folder.

Using the lesson, you can make a folder without a name, but there is one caveat. Your computer must have a numeric keypad, which is located on the right (if it doesn’t have one, read on). It usually contains 17 keys, including numbers from 0 to 9. If the keys cannot be pressed, click on Num Lock.

Basically, laptops and netbooks do not have keys on the right. So now it won't work remove folder name in Windows 7, 8? Of course, it will be possible if you include the numbers corresponding to the English letters MJKLUIO and the numbers 789. Familiarize yourself with your keyboard and highlight the necessary keys. To enable them, use the combination Fn + F11 (Shift + F11).

If that doesn't work, then use the on-screen keyboard. On the main keyboard, hold down Fn, and on the on-screen keyboard, Num Lock.

By default, the right buttons are disabled. To enable them, click the “options” button (picture above), then check the “enable numeric keypad” checkbox and click OK. Before you begin, take care of this and follow the instructions.

Making the folder name invisible

It is advisable to make an empty directory name on the desktop. Presumably this will be pointless to look at in Explorer, but for practice you can do it here. If you try to put spaces in place of the name or leave an empty space, then after pressing Enter you will not succeed. To achieve your goal, follow the step-by-step algorithm of actions:

  1. Create a folder (go to step 3) or use an existing one.
  2. Right-click on the catalog, select the “rename” section from the menu, or double-click with the left button with a delay of 2-3 seconds between clicks. You can also select “properties” from the menu, and on the “general” tab at the very top, select the current folder name.
  3. Delete the previous name, hold down the ALT button, type 255 on the numeric keypad on the right (press KII on a netbook), release ALT and press enter.

After this approach, the folder will become untitled. In fact, the directory is assigned a non-displayable character that resembles a regular space.

By the way, using this principle you can remove the name of shortcuts and files. Make sure that the option to show file extensions is disabled. This way you won’t accidentally delete the extension and it won’t appear on files.

Note: Please note that you cannot remove the names of a number of system folders or themes that are currently in use. The same applies to files and shortcuts.

Surely, a folder without a name will not look original. Therefore, I focus on how to change the folder icon on Windows 7, 8 in order to set distinctive features and attractiveness.

That's it, now you can make a folder untitled in Windows 7, 8 lightning fast. All you need is the practical application of this lesson in compliance with the recommended rules.

Sometimes you need to hide a file or folder from prying eyes on your desktop: from children, wife or husband, or bosses. Our instructions have 4 ways to do this in 1 minute.

Method 1: popular

Create a folder

First, create a regular folder. This can be done on your desktop or any other place where it is convenient for you. Right-click in the free area → “New” → “Folder”. You can put any name.

Making the icon transparent

Right-click on the new folder and open Properties.

On the Settings tab, click the Change Icon button.

Find the transparent icon in the list of available icons, select it and click OK. You can also download it separately and specify the path to it.

In the folder properties window, click “Apply”, “OK”.

Now the folder has become transparent, only the name remains.

Hiding the folder name

Right-click on the folder - Rename. While holding down the Alt key on the numeric pad of the keyboard (right), enter the code 0160. This is a non-breaking space character. Release Alt and press Enter. If that doesn’t work, try replacing the code with 255, or holding down the Fn button on the laptop together with Alt.

Some laptop models do not have a numeric keypad. In such cases, type a non-breaking space in Word using the key combination Ctrl + Shift + Space. Copy and paste into the folder name.

Method 2: alternative

On my Windows 10 virtual machine, I didn’t want to install a hidden icon for a folder. It was possible to make it only for a shortcut to a folder, but it was indicated by an arrow in the corner. So I found an additional way to make the folder invisible.

In the folder properties, check the “Hidden” option.

In Explorer, open the “View” tab and check the “Hidden elements” checkbox.

This option can also be changed through the Control Panel:

Open Control Panel. It is located in Pusk. Find it through the search or right-click on the Start icon - Control Panel.

Select Appearance and Personalization.

On the “View” tab, at the very end of the list, select the “Do not show hidden files, folders and drives” option.

Click "Apply" - "OK".

Method 3: simple

If you don’t want to mess around with the OS settings, use the free program Free Hide Folder, which can be downloaded from the official website: http://www.cleanersoft.com/hidefolder/free_hide_folder.htm. It hides the folder completely: it cannot be found even through a search.

After installation and launch, the program will prompt you to enter a password with confirmation. The next step will ask for a registration code; you can skip it with the “Skip” button.

To hide a folder, add it to the program using the “Add” button. A warning will appear about creating a backup copy of data to access the folder in case you uninstall and reinstall the program, so as not to lose access to it, click “Backup”. Click "OK" and the folder will disappear.

To access the folder in the program, click on the Unhide button.

Method 4: genius

Another unusual way to hide a folder is inside a picture. Before you begin, make a copy of your important files so you don't lose them if something goes wrong.

For example, let's take a folder with important data and a photo with a secret cat.

This is a photo with a secret cat.

Make an archive of the secret folder (zip or rar format).

Create a folder, the closer to the root of the disk, the easier it is. For me it is C:\setupik\ . Move the created archive and photo of the cat inside this folder.

Open a command prompt: press Win + R, type cmd and click OK.

Use the cd command to navigate to the created folder. Like this: cd c:\setupik\ .

Enter the command COPY /B kot.jpg + secret.rar secret-img.jpg . Change the file names to your own: the first is a photo of a cat, the second is an archive with a hidden folder, the third is a new file with a secret picture.

After running the command, open the created secret-img.jpg file. You will see the same picture with a cat. But if you open this file using an archiver or change the extension to rar or zip, you will see hidden files. Magic!

How to find a hidden folder

In the first case, a folder with an invisible icon and name will become visible if you select it. This can be done with the key combination Ctrl + A (select all) or manually select the entire desktop area.

In the case of a hidden folder using an attribute, you can find it when you enable the display of hidden files and folders through the control panel. That is, you need to repeat the described steps in reverse order.

You can also access a hidden folder if you write down its path somewhere. For example: C:\Users\Admin\AppData\My hidden folder. Paste this path into Explorer and the desired folder will open.

As you can see, there is a chance that your hidden folder will be accidentally found. Therefore, it is better to remove it from the desktop somewhere away. And the most reliable way is to put a password on the folder. When archiving a folder in WinRar, the options will allow you to set a password and hide file names.

How often do you have to hide information on your computer? By uploading files to a “distant” directory (for example, a Windows folder), then they are difficult to find and over time they are lost.

There are simpler ways, for example, you can hide a folder simply by not setting its name.

How to create a folder without a name? This article provides detailed instructions for a complete answer to this question.

If you need to hide files, just move them to a separate folder and then follow all the steps described. A couple of minutes will be enough to make several invisible folders at once.

Folder without name, how to create it?

The easiest way to create a secret folder on your computer is is to give it an empty name and select a transparent label.

This is done like this:

This simple method helps hide files from prying eyes, but hardly anyone would think of highlighting an area. To be more confident, move the folder to the corner of the desktop (under widgets).

Novice PC users don't even realize how many functions there are in the operating system. You can even do it without third-party programs. If you learn all the tricks of using the system, the system will become much more convenient for you.
